Allergic Rhinitis
Overview
Allergic rhinitis is an allergic reaction to airborne allergens, like grass, pollen, dust and animal dander. It is sometimes referred to as "hay fever." It occurs seasonally or year-round. It is estimated that anywhere from 10-30% of children and adults in the United States are affected with allergic rhinitis.

- Family history
- Obesity
- Exposure to parental smoking
- Pets
- Exposure to indoor allergens (dust mites)
- Presence of asthma or eczema
- High total serum IgE
- Exposure to air pollution
Symptoms
- Sneezing
- Nasal congestion
- Loss of smell
- Postnasal drip
- Cough
- Red, watery and itchy eyes
- Puffy, swollen eyelids
- Pain in the ear
- Headache
- Fatigue
