Overview

Parasomnias cause abnormal behavior that occurs while sleeping.  One may do unusual things while sleeping and typically do not remember the incident.  This may make it difficult for one to get restful sleep.  While parasomnias may be frightening, they are treatable.

  • Sleep study


Treatment

  • Medications

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy

  • Psychotherapy

  • Relaxation therapy

  • Establishing a safe sleep environment at home
