Six Minute Walk Test
Overview
The six minute walk test is a test to determine one's exercise capacity. It is often used for patients with underlying chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary hypertension, interstitial lung diease, congestive heart failure or other cardiopulmonary diseases. During this test, you will asked to walk at your own pace for six minutes. You will be connected to monitor that measures your heart rate and oxygen level. The total distance that you walk in six minutes will be recorded. Your level of shortness of breath and fatigue will also be recorded. If you need to stop, please let the technician know.
